Correction of wrinkling and facial folds has been performed for the past 30 years utilizing filler substances. Fillers to correct unwanted lines may include collagen or hyaluronic acid. Both are natural substances that the body produces. Collagen makes up almost 80% of our skin and is responsible for its basic structure, strength, and volume. Hylarunonic acid is a naturally hydrating substance in your skin that provides volume and fullness. Over time, the loss of either substance can result in facial wrinkles and folds. After these products are injected, they are slowly broken down and eliminated by the body.
If you have collagen injections, there is very little bruising or swelling, so there is very little down time if any. Immediately after the injection applying ice is recommended to prevent bruising. Any swelling or unevenness will subside within several hours of the injection. Although Hyaluronic acid fillers are softer and more natural in appearance, they run a greater risk of increased redness, swelling and bruising. Ice is recommended to be applied after the injection. Manipulation of the area, should be avoided for the first 48 hours after injection.After any of these injections, you may apply makeup immediately thereafter and go about your daily activities as usual.
