What is Belotero® and am I a good candidate?
Belotero® is one of the lightest dermal fillers available, and it is ideal for someone who wants to reduce fine lines around the lips, corners of the mouth, and minor marionette lines (the lines from the corners of your mouth down toward your jawline).
What are the benefits of Belotero® and how does it work?
While BELOTERO Dermal Filler is made of the same material (HA) as some other dermal fillers, BELOTERO Dermal filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth) as well as more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line).
How many treatments will I need?
Belotero® is clinically proven to last up to 6 months or longer. Treatments can be repeated as needed.
What type of results will I see?
After injection into the skin, Belotero® dermal filler instantly plumps the skin and smoothes facial wrinkles.
Is there any downtime associated with this procedure?
The procedure is very quick and easy. Prior to filler injections, a numbing cream is applied to the site. Some patients may experience mild swelling or bruising at the injection site that lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Cold compresses can be applied post treatment to reduce any potential side-effects. Camouflage makeup may also be used and most patients can return immediately to work and resume normal activities. We recommend that patients avoid aspirin, vitamin E supplements and alcohol for 3 days prior to any injectable procedure to minimize the risk of bruising. The doctor will discuss your medical history at your office visit to rule out any contraindications to this product.
What other treatments/procedures can Belotero® be combined with?
Filler helps with restoring volume to areas, but sometimes additional treatment like Botox® or Dysport® may be needed to help soften some excess muscle contractions which result in the formation of lines. Treatments to help the epidermis and general skin health are Dermasweep, chemical peels, laser resurfacing and a customized topical regimen. The combination of these therapies can be very satisfying to effectively treat signs of aging from various angles.
