Botox COSMETIC Chicago
What is BOTOX® Cosmetic and am I a good candidate?
Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA) is FDA-approved and is a safe and effective treatment to temporarily lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of a highly purified botulinum toxin protein refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum.
Patients looking to rejuvenate certain facial features and have concerns with premature aging or deeper fine lines and wrinkles may be a good candidate for Botox Cosmetic® treatment at Pinski Dermatology in our Chicago and Bourbonnais locations. Dr. Pinski is one of the top injectors in the United States with over 25 years of experience and is an advisor to the Allergan Corporation (the manufacturer of Botox) and he customizes each treatment to meet your personal needs and skin care goals. Dr. Sulewski also performs Botox injections and has been doing treatments for many years.
What are the benefits of Botox ® Cosmetic and how does it work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of fine lines and wrinkles—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your provider will inject certain muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your fine lines and wrinkles.
How many treatments will I need?
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 4 months.
What type of results will I see?
As one of Chicago’s top Botox dermatology practices, Dr. Pinski and Dr. Sulewski will help you achieve a smoother, more rejuvenated appearance. Fine lines and wrinkles will begin to soften and excessive facial contractions will be prevented to give the appearance younger skin. Full results should be visible at 2 weeks after treatment.
Is there any downtime associated with this procedure?
The procedure is very quick and easy. Prior to each Botox injection in Dr. Pinski’s Chicago area offices, an ice pack is used to alleviate any discomfort. There is no downtime after the treatment, but patients may experience slight redness around the injection site or bruising. Patients should not use alcohol, Aspirin, or Vitamin E three days prior to their treatment to help minimize any chance of bruising.
* You should not receive Botox if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or eggs, or if you have an infection, swelling, or muscle weakness in the area where the medicine will be injected. Tell your doctor if you have ever had a side effect after receiving any injectable in the past. Your provider will ask in-depth questions concerning your medical history to see if you are a good candidate for this treatment.
What other treatments/procedures can Botox® be combined with?
Botox® helps with reducing excess muscle contractions which helps to soften lines and prevent the “etching” in of lines. However, some areas may have hollowing or volume loss. In this case, fillers are great in combination with Botox to help restore volume to common areas like the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, under eyes, and the lips. Treatments to help the epidermis and general skin health are Dermasweep, chemical peels, laser resurfacing and a customized topical regimen. The combination of these therapies can be very satisfying to effectively treat signs of aging from various angles.
