April is Rosacea Awareness Month. Rosacea, defined as the facial redness with swollen red bumps and small visible blood vessels, affects more than 16 million people in the United States. Often early signs of rosacea are ignored as people think these symptoms will go away, but unfortunately the opposite is generally true–without treatment, rosacea gets increasingly more severe. Patients with Rosacea may also experience acne, skin dryness, oily skin, rashes, itchiness, a large or bulbous red nose, or a stinging sensation. For some, topical and oral medicine can help relieve symptoms, but there is no cure for Rosacea.
At Pinski Dermatology we work with our Rosacea patients to help control their Rosacea and develop a treatment plan that works best for them. One way we treat Rosacea is with the VBeam laser. This pulsed dye laser, or vascular laser, removes those unwanted red lesions that occur when blood vessels are dilated. The VBeam laser can be an effective treatment for some, but may not be right for everyone. If you are interested in learning more about the VBeam laser, and to find out if it may be right for you, contact our office to schedule your consultation today.
