Restylane® Lyft is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face. Restylane® Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler indicated to both provide lift to cheeks and add volume to correct and smooth smile lines (nasolabial folds).
Over time, the natural fat that surrounds the cheeks begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane® Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks and midface area, which can result in a more natural-looking, youthful appearance. The key difference with this particular dermal filler is that it is injected deeper and uses bigger particles.
Almost all patients who receive Restylane® Lyft will still see noticeable results six months after the initial procedure. For most patients, the effects will last up to one year.
If the cheeks are injected, they will appear fuller. If the nasolabial folds or “smile lines” are injected, they will be much softer giving the face a fuller, more youthful appearance.
The procedure is very quick and easy. Prior to filler injections, a numbing cream is applied to the site. Some patients may experience mild swelling or bruising at the injection site that lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Cold compresses can be applied post treatment to reduce any potential side-effects. Camouflage makeup may also be used and most patients can return immediately to work and resume normal activities. We recommend that patients avoid aspirin, vitamin E supplements and alcohol for 3 days prior to any injectable procedure to minimize the risk of bruising. The doctor will discuss your medical history at your office visit to rule out any contraindications to this product.
Filler helps with restoring volume to areas, but sometimes additional treatment like Botox® or Dysport® may be needed to help soften some excess muscle contractions which result in the formation of lines. Treatments to help the epidermis and general skin health are Dermasweep, chemical peels, laser resurfacing and a customized topical regimen. The combination of these therapies can be very satisfying to effectively treat signs of aging from various angles.
