Stem Cell/Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) hair loss treatment is an innovative, non-invasive hair regrowth therapy. This procedure utilizes a very concentrated source of your own blood plasma enriched with vital growth factors and proteins to heal damaged hair follicles, regenerate scalp tissue and stimulate the hair follicles in order to produce healthier, thicker and fuller hair.
If you have been diagnosed with female or male pattern hair loss, you may be a good candidate for treatment. Your physician will decide if you can potentially benefit from stem cell hair loss treatments.
PRP is harvested from your own blood draw, done here in our office immediately before the procedure. Your blood is then spun in a centrifuge, which separates out the stem cells. The stem cells are then injected into the scalp in the areas of thinning, in a 60 minute appointment for total treatment. As a result, decreased/slower hair loss occurs and in most cases re-growth of hair is noted. Discomfort is minimal, however some may experience more sensitivity than others.
When hair follicles are no longer viable and no longer produce hair, PRP cannot regrow hair. The treatment goal is to help stop the process of hair thinning (miniaturization). The increased blood supply and natural responses to the introduction of the PRP into the scalp helps revive thinning hair. The earlier you begin treatment when you notice thinning, the better long term potential for success.
A series of 3-6 treatments will be recommended for best results. Treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may also be needed to maintain results.
Results are seen over a time period of six months. Some may notice improvement as the series of treatments is being completed.
There is no downtime associated with this procedure. Treated areas may feel a bit tender post treatment but this resolves within 24-48 hours.
